Our Story

Spoke is a community-based organisation run by Bradford-based artist Sharena Lee Satti and a team of dedicated volunteers. Spoke brings together emerging and established poets and performance artists to reach new people and places with poetry and spoken word.

As experienced speakers, educators and facilitators we deliver spoken word

workshops in various settings across education, rehabilitation and corporate sectors.

 ​

At Spoke we host poetry and spoken word events throughout the year, some in keeping with national and local literary festivals and events like #WorldBookDay and #NationalPoetryDay. 

 ​

Our open mic events offer people the opportunity to showcase their work in a safe space. We run events regularly in a nomadic style (from different locations). Visit our upcoming events for more info and to book your place at our next event.

Spoke Radio is broadcast monthly via BCB 106.6FM. Tune in and hear interviews with guest artists as well as general news, upcoming publications, reviews and events.
